Materials You’ll Need
- Potted plant
- Dishwashing liquid
- Potting soil
- Different verities of plants
- Seasonal table décor
- Brush & paint (optional)
Steps to Use Potted Plants as Centerpieces
STEP 1: Before we start setting up the plants, the first step we have to do is to wash the pot with warm, soapy water. Wash the inside and outside of the pot and let it dry completely. You can paint it with your choice of color, but it’s optional. Some would paint the pot with traditional Christmas colors, but we love to display it as it is since we’re going to decorate it with seasonal decor.
STEP 2: Fill the pot with soil up to an inch of the edge, then plant your choice of plant. We love plants like rosemary since it smells nice and homey. We also love lavender, lemon balm, or Christmas cactus and Christmas plants.
STEP 3: Once you’ve arranged the plants in the soil, cover the soil with Spanish moss or green sheet moss. It will help the soil from spilling into the table. Plus, it retains moisture in the soil. Repeat steps 1 to 3 for all the potted plants you’ll use.
STEP 4: Place the potted plant in the center of the table. You can style it in your tray with seasonal other decor.
STEP 5: Style the potted plants by mixing tall and short potted plants and decor in the table. For example, combine potted plants with candles, a pile of coffee books, and other decorative objects to create height and depth and draw the eye to the table.
