Incorporate a little life into your workspace with these easy-to-care office desk plants.
As we continue to work from home this 2021, we’re always looking for ways to make work interesting, fun, and will motivate us to work better. That’s why we thought why not add life to your workspace with office desk plants. Whether you have a sunny home office or are stuck in a corner of your home, these office desk plants will surely thrive. The best part? You finally have a friend to talk to (oh yes, I named my cacti Mr. Prickle, and he’s always looking sharp!)

Cacti
Cacti or cactus is one of the most common office desk plants because it’s easy-to-care, and it can be placed anywhere. It can thrive in any environment and sometimes can handle a bit of neglect, but it’s best to place it in a sunny spot. Water it once a week.
Aloe
Aloe is another popular office desk plant because it can thrive even in a dark corner. Plus, it’s a hard-to-kill plant, which makes it perfect for busy plant owners. However, aloe vera prefers bright light for at least six to eight hours every morning. The leaves of your Aloe Vera plant will drop downwards if it does not receive enough light. Water your Aloe Vera plant only when the soil is completely dry.
Pothos
One of the best office desk plants that are perfect for people with a black thumb. All you need is to give them medium light and water your Pothos plant when they start to look wilty.
African Violet
Add some color to your desk with African Violets! It requires a little TLC, but nothing overwhelming. African Violets require bright, indirect sunlight. Rotate the pot once a week, so all leaves receive light. Water your African Violet when the soil is dry.
English Ivy
English ivy is one of the office desk plants with undeniable personality and whimsical quality. Keep in mind that this is a climbing plant, so it’s best to place it in a hanging planter above your desk. It grows best in partial to full shade. However, it can also adapt to almost any amount of light, from full sun to full shade. Water your English Ivy plant when the top inch of the potting mix is completely dry.
Philodendron
Philodendron is one of the easiest office desk plants. Plus, it can tolerate any type of light and environment. However, it grows best in medium light and bright, indirect sunlight. Water when the top 50% of the soil is completely dry.
Air Plants
Will you believe us if we say that air plants are easier to care for than succulents? It’s true! Air plants need bright, indirect light to thrive. Water your air plant thoroughly like 2-3 times per week, especially if you live in a hot, dry environment. It’s also important that you give it enough light and air circulation to dry in 4 hours or less.
Lucky Bamboo
The lucky bamboo is considered to be one of the office desk plants that can bring fortune and good luck into your workspace. Opt for 6 stalks if you want to draw prosperity and wealth at work. The lucky bamboo requires moderate or indirect sunlight to thrive. Keep your lucky bamboo plant’s soil slightly damp, but don’t let the soil get too dry, and don’t overwater it.
Jade Plant
Similar to the lucky bamboo, the jade plant is also known to attract fortune and good wealth. The Jade plant requires direct sunlight or full sun to grow for at least four hours every morning. It’s important to keep the soil moist, but don’t overwater it.
Succulents
Lastly, succulents are the most popular office desk plants because it comes in different sizes, shapes, and colors. Plus, it’s low-maintenance. Most succulents need at least 3–6 hours of direct sun every day, preferably during the morning. It’s best to place it in a warm spot, like near a window, where it can receive the right amount of sunlight. Water your succulent when the soil is completely dry.
